A delegation of international travelers visited the Khudavang monastery complex, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.
The travelers, representing 13 countries and led by Charles Veley, founder of the prestigious MTP (Most Traveled People) club, familiarized themselves with the complex.
During the visit, the delegation members were informed about the history of the monument, the damage caused to it during the occupation period, and the legal measures being taken to return cultural heritage samples.
It was noted that the Khudavang monastery, located in the village of Vang in Kalbajar district, was registered by the state as an architectural monument of world significance under Cabinet of Ministers Decision No. 132 dated August 2, 2001. Founded in the 6th–7th centuries, the monastery was the religious center of the Albanian Khachen principality. The main temple of the complex was built in 1214 by Arzu Khatun.
