Azerbaijan’s trade surplus hits $6,4m

During January, 2007 Azerbaijan’s trade operations with 88 nations totaled to US $785,604,100, of which exports accounted for $396,014,600 and imports made up $389,589,500, including humanitarian goods worth $8,917,800 imported to the country through the state, government and international organizations.
The country’s trade surplus stood at $6,425,200 during the period, State Customs Committee told APA-Economics.
According to statistics, the exports grew 67.36% and imports rose 53.87% from the same period last year. Temporary export and import reached $27,890,600 and $10,106,600 respectively. Crude oil made up 66.64% of the exports, oil products15.90%, aluminum 2.24%, fruits and vegetables 1.84%, grease and vegetable oil 1.63%, ferrous metal products 0.99%, chemicals 0.85%, cotton 0.81%, strong and soft drinks 0.56% and tobacco 0.10%.
Electronic equipment, devices and spare parts accounted for 24.95% of the imports, ferrous metal products 14.68%, oil gas and other hydrocarbons 13.27%, foodstuffs 10.42%, vehicles and spare parts 9.18%, pharmaceutical products 1.72%, wood and wood products 1.13%, consumer goods 0.89% and furniture 0.66%.
The portion of the state sector in the exports was $338,342,800 and the portion of the private sector was $53,010,200, the share of individuals was $4,661,600. As to imports, the shares are $157,639,900, $209,881,700, 22.071,900 respectively. /APA-Economics/
