Azerbaijani judokas Hidayat Heydarov and Zelim Kotsoiev, who won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, have returned to homeland, APA reports.

Together with them, the executive vice-president of the Judo Federation, Rashad Rasullu, returned to the homeland.

Rashad Rasullu expressed his impressions of our athletes becoming champions as follows:

"Our impressions are really good. After 16 years, as the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, we have obtained two gold medals. Therefore, it goes without saying that we first of all express our gratitude to the country's leadership, Mr. President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the created conditions. Of course, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Olympic Committee had great support in this matter. For us, of course, it was a long road and it is a great pleasure to see the result of our hard work on this road. I should also note that the entire team of our federation, each of its employees, has worked hard to achieve this result. I also express my gratitude to them. We did this work as a team, we achieved this result. After that, after a very short break, we will start preparing for the next Olympics. Our plans and goals are big. We have announced our goals, and one of our main goals is the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Our goal is to improve this result even more and achieve the Olympic first among women."
