The opening ceremony for Paris Olympics will be unlike any other, APA reports citing USA Today.

Not only will the opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympics be held outside a stadium for the first time in the history of the Games, it will take place on the Seine River, organizers said Monday. The parade of nations will be a 162-boat flotilla passing some of the iconic city’s most famous sights including Notre Dame cathedral, the Louvre, the Place de la Concorde and the Eiffel Tower.

And unlike most opening ceremonies, where a high-priced ticket is required for fans, spectators can watch for free on the quays along the Seine.

“The entire city has been turned into a vast Olympic stadium,” said Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024. “The Seine represents the track, and the quays the spectators’ stands.”
