Karate players of Azerbaijan's MES achieved high results at the III CIS Games

Karate competitions within the framework of the 3rd CIS Games have concluded at the "Kür" Olympic Educational-Sports Center located in the city of Mingachevir, the Press Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.

On October 3–4, 96 athletes from 8 countries competed with determination and tested their strength. Members of Azerbaijan’s national karate team — Rovshan Aliyev, a staff sergeant of the State Fire Protection Service, and Nuran Rzazade, a soldier of the Civil Defense Troops — achieved high results in both kata and kumite competitions.

Thus, in the men’s kumite competition in the -67 kg weight category, Nuran Rzazade, who reached the final after five bouts, defeated his opponent from Kyrgyzstan 7:3 to win the gold medal at the 3rd CIS Games.

In addition, in the men’s individual kata competition, another member of the team, Rovshan Aliyev, claimed the bronze medal.

Azerbaijan’s national-level referee and employee of the MES Sports and Health Club, Internal Service Lieutenant Murad Hajizade, also took part in officiating the karate competitions at the 3rd CIS Games.
