Azerbaijan names flag bearers for opening of 3rd CIS Games in Ganja

Karate champion Asiman Gurbanli and taekwondo athlete Zemfira Hasanzade will carry Azerbaijan’s flag at the opening ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games, set for September 28 at Ganja City Stadium, APA reports.

Gurbanli is among the most decorated athletes competing at the event, as a three-time European champion, 2019 European Games winner, Islamic Solidarity Games champion, and 2011 World Championship silver medalist.

Hasanzade is a European Championship bronze medalist in Olympic weight categories and a former European youth champion.

The 3rd CIS Games will run from September 28 to October 8, with competitions held across 12 venues in Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi.
