Azerbaijan to establish Computer Emergency Response Teams
# 10 August 2026 14:27 (UTC +04:00)

Computer Emergency Response Teams will be established in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

This is reflected in President Ilham Aliyev's Decree on the implementation of amendments to the Law "On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information."

According to the law, cybersecurity activities in information infrastructures performing functions of public importance will be ensured through CERTs, which will be either the relevant structural units of the state body (institution) responsible for implementing state policy, regulation and oversight in the sector in which the infrastructure operates, or resident legal entities designated by that body (institution) on a contractual basis.

According to the Decree, the Cabinet of Ministers must, based on proposals from the relevant state bodies (institutions), take measures to finance the establishment or designation of Computer Emergency Response Teams by those bodies (institutions). State bodies must take measures within one year to include Computer Emergency Response Teams and Security Operations Centers in the registry and inform the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan accordingly.

The State Security Service and the Special Communication and Information Security State Service have been instructed, while the Central Bank has been recommended, to take measures within one year to include Computer Emergency Response Teams and Security Operations Centers in the registry and inform the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan accordingly.
