“Georgia welcomes the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and considers it an important step toward ensuring lasting peace and regional stability in the South Caucasus,” Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia said at the high-level event titled “Prosperity through Peace: Investing in the Trans-Caspian Trade Route and the TRIPP Initiative,” held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly at the initiative of the US Department of State, APA’s local bureau reports.
He said that peace and strengthened connectivity in the region create new opportunities for economic development and cooperation.
The Foreign Ministry official also spoke about the importance of the Middle Corridor and the TRIPP initiative, noting that their development would contribute to strengthening regional connectivity, expanding trade and transit opportunities, as well as attracting new investment.
Lasha Darsalia also spoke about infrastructure projects being implemented by Georgia to develop the Middle Corridor. In this context, he particularly emphasized the importance of the Anaklia deep-sea port, which will further strengthen Georgia’s maritime transport links and contribute to developing the capacity of the Middle Corridor.
The Deputy Minister added that Georgia is ready to contribute to strengthening regional connectivity and creating new economic opportunities through cooperation with the United States, as well as regional and international partners.
