The leaders of the United States and China will discuss artificial intelligence, technology and security issues, US President Donald Trump said while welcoming President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping at the White House, APA reports.
“During this visit, we will also discuss pressing issues related to security, technology and superintelligence (artificial intelligence). The decisions we make in these areas today can serve to promote peace and prosperity for decades to come,” Trump said.
The US President emphasized that he had high expectations for the meeting and was ready to continue working with Xi Jinping for a “better future.”
“I am confident that together we can achieve a great deal,” he noted.
Trump also spoke about the common interests that have united the American and Chinese peoples throughout history. Trump recalled that the two countries fought together as allies during World War II.
“Throughout history, these common interests have connected our peoples despite vast oceans, great distances and numerous differences, and even made us allies in World War II,” the US President noted.
Trump also recalled the American pilots who went to China to provide assistance during the war, referring to the “Flying Tigers” group.
“Brave American pilots voluntarily came to China and fought for the survival of a legendary country. That legendary ‘Flying Tigers’ group — they were truly incredible,” the US President added.
