Azerbaijan's revenues from passenger transportation by rail increased sharply

In the first half of this year, revenues from freight and passenger transportation by rail in Azerbaijan amounted to 200,447.2 thousand manats, which is 8.2% less compared to the corresponding period of 2024 (218,248.9 thousand manats), APA-Economics reports citing calculations based on data from the State Statistical Committee.

According to the information, during the reporting period, revenues from freight transportation by rail amounted to 192,618 thousand manats, which is 9.7% less compared to the figures for January-June of last year (213,252.1 thousand manats).

It should also be noted that in the first half of the current year, revenues from passenger transportation amounted to 7,829.2 thousand manats, which is 56.7% more compared to the corresponding period of last year (4,996.8 thousand manats).

Recall that in Azerbaijan, 8,442.2 thousand tons of cargo and 4,648.4 thousand passengers were transported by rail during January–June 2025, which represents a 9.4% decrease and a 20.7% increase respectively, in annual comparison.
