In January-June of this year, 260,804.5 thousand manats were earned from freight transportation by rail and sea within the corridors passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, which is a 5.6% decrease compared to the year before, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to the information, in the reporting period, revenues from freight transportation by rail within the corridors passing through the territory of Azerbaijan amounted to 163,922.9 thousand manats, which is 9.1% less than the indicator for the corresponding period of 2024.
It is noted that revenues from transportation by sea in January-June amounted to 96,881.6 thousand manats, which is an increase of 1.1% compared to the indicator for the first half of 2024.
It is reported that in the first half of last year, 276,189.4 thousand manats of revenue were generated from freight transportation by rail and sea within the corridors passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, of which 180,319.8 thousand manats fell to the share of railways, and 95,869.6 thousand manats to sea transportation.
It should be noted that in January-June 2025, 7,120.1 thousand tons of freight were transported by rail, 3,752.2 thousand tons by sea, and 5,307.7 thousand tons by road in the transport corridors.
During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transported via the East-West transport corridor amounted to 8,300.8 thousand tons, including 4,088.9 thousand tons via the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor, 4,690.5 thousand tons via the North-South transport corridor, 2,930.4 thousand tons via the North-West transport corridor, and 258.2 thousand tons via the South-West transport corridor.
Transit cargo accounted for 45.8 percent of cargo transported via rail, 42.3 percent of cargo transported via road, and 95.1 percent of cargo transported via sea.
