The captain of an American Airlines aircraft operating on the New Delhi–New York route requested an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the airport told APA.
The reason was a serious health issue experienced by one of the passengers on board.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner successfully landed in Baku at 02:30 local time.
Immediate medical aid was provided to the passenger on site. A necessary medical evaluation is currently underway, and the passenger's condition is being monitored.
After the necessary procedures were completed, the aircraft resumed its flight and took off from Baku towards its destination — London — at 10:31.
