Azerbaijan completes surveys on Intelligent Transport Management System

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA-Economics. The surveys on the proposed Baku Intelligent Transport Management System Project have been completed, said Sadraddin Mammadov, the project management team leader and officer of the Ministry of Transport.
He added that it is slated to launch the construction of an administrative building and procurement of the system components from the first quarter.
Azerbaijan signed an agreement with South Korea’s SK C&C in May for the establishment of the system. system.
After implemented, the system will collect traffic data in real-time from data collection media (detector-video, loop and radar, CCTV, etc), send data in real-time to the Intelligent Transport System Servers for the detention of unforeseen incidents, special situations and repeated congestion and the management of traffic flow, parking, and movement on bridges and overpasses through entrance/exit ramp control and lane control.
Besides, data transfer and signaling system will enable to improve traffic flow in case of special situations such as extreme congestion or unforeseen situations based on data collected in real-time in the servers through local detectors, surveillance and monitoring devices along the roads.
At the first phase, 20 electronic information boards, 77 detector-videos, 30 unauthorized parking regulators, 55 surveillance cameras and 546 loops will be installed. The project timeframe is two years.
