A severe road accident in the Gobu settlement of Absheron district claimed three lives on the morning of December 8, APA reports.
The Republican Emergency and Urgent Medical Assistance Center informed APA that a call was received at around 09:30 reporting a traffic accident in the area. An emergency medical team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
According to the Center, two men were pronounced dead before medical assistance could be provided, while a woman died en route to the hospital.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) also released information regarding the incident. The MES “112” hotline received a report about the accident on Samad Vurgun Street in Gobu, indicating the need for rescue assistance. The Ministry dispatched the nearest rescue forces to the scene.
Rescuers from the Special Risk Rescue Service extracted the driver’s body from the vehicle and handed it over to the relevant authorities.
Further details were provided by the Main State Traffic Police Department. According to the report, the accident occurred at approximately 08:35 when a “MAN” truck driven by Umudvar Abbasov lost control while entering a sharp turn due to rainy weather and failure to adjust speed to road conditions. The truck collided with an oncoming “Toyota” passenger car.
As a result, the driver of the Toyota, Zaur Mammadov, and passenger Mariya Mammadova died at the scene. Another passenger, Mubarak Mammadov, sustained injuries of varying severity.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
