Over 53 kg of narcotics prevented from being smuggled into Azerbaijan -PHOTO

A large amount of narcotics was prevented from being smuggled into the country, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.

Measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors are being successfully continued.

The smuggling of 53 kilograms 250 grams of narcotics and 1,450 methadone M-40 pills containing narcotics from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented in the service area of the "Lankaran" border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service.

As a result of the conducted complex border search and operational measures, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Amil Vidadi oglu Sadigov, (born in 1991), was detained as a suspect, and a total weight of 9 kilograms 760 grams of the drug marijuana and 450 tablets of the drug methadone M-40, which were thrown into the area near the border line by an aerial vehicle, were discovered and seized.

During the initial interrogation, the detained person admitted that he had come to that area with the aim of taking the drug.

As a result of operational-military measures conducted in the service area of the border detachment, on December 7, 20 kilograms 240 grams of drugs (19 kg 180 grams of marijuana, 1060 grams of methamphetamine) were discovered, and on December 9, 23 kilograms 250 grams of the drug marijuana and 1000 tablets of the drug methadone M-40 were seized.

Operational and investigative measures are continuing on the facts.
