Kazakhstan is awaiting the results of analyses from two foreign laboratories and will publish the final report on the AZAL aircraft crash near Aktau once those findings are received, Kazakhstan's media reported, citing the Ministry of Transport, APA reports.
Under ICAO regulations, the final report on the investigation of an air accident must be released within 12 months of the incident.
The Embraer 190 aircraft crashed on 25 December 2024 near the port of Aktau. There were 67 people on board, 38 of whom — including six Kazakh citizens — died. The incident created tension in relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as it was reported that the aircraft had been damaged while in Russian airspace.
