As a result of the complex customs control measures carried out by the employees of the Air Transport Head Customs Department, the illegal crossing of gold bars, mobile phones, cameras and other goods across the customs border was prevented, the Department told APA.
Customs inspection was carried out on the bags of a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan arriving on the Sharjah-Baku flight, and 2 mobile phones, 3 cameras, 10,800 foreign-brand cigarettes, 16 electronic cigarettes, 10 food supplements, a Dyson hair dryer and other goods that were not declared to the customs authority were discovered.
Since the passenger was observed to be behaving suspiciously during the customs control measures, a check was carried out using a “Body-Scan” device. As a result, a total of 90 grams of gold bars, specially hidden in the person’s shoes, jacket pockets and mobile phone case, were discovered.
