An elderly woman in Azerbaijan’s Bilasuvar district, initially believed to have died from high blood pressure, was later found to have been murdered, authorities said, APA’s southern bureau reports.
70-year-old Almaz Jafarova, who died about a month ago in Ismetli village, was originally reported to have passed away due to health complications. However, police investigations later revealed that she was strangled.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed Jafarova being assaulted by her daughter-in-law. Police have detained the daughter-in-law, 29-year-old Gulbaniz Hasanazada, and her brother, 24-year-old Qasim Hasanov, as suspects in the killing.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing at the Bilasuvar District Prosecutor’s Office.
