Individuals attempting to smuggle narcotic substances into the country have been detained, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
Measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and to combat smuggling, the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are being successfully continued.
In the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service, an attempt to smuggle 8 kilograms 456 grams of narcotic substances from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented.
As a result of operational and military measures, Tayfur Khayal oglu Zargarov (born in 2004), a resident of Ganja city, and Aykhan Rovshan oglu Aslanov (born in 1990), a resident of Aghdam district, were detained as suspects. A total of 4 kilograms 330 grams of marijuana was discovered and seized.
On December 6, an additional 4 kilograms 126 grams of marijuana was detected in the border detachment’s service area by the border patrol responsible for guarding the state border.
Operational-investigative measures regarding the incidents are ongoing.
