59 illegal migrants, including Azerbaijani citizens, detained in Georgia

As a result of large-scale migration control measures carried out in Georgia, 59 foreigners illegally residing in the country have been detained, APA's local bureau reports, citing the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The detainees include citizens of Kenya, Türkiye, Russia, India, Egypt, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Sudan, Cameroon, China and Azerbaijan. It was established that they were staying in Georgia in violation of the requirements stipulated by the Law on the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons.

The detained individuals have been placed in the temporary accommodation center of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and procedures for their removal from Georgia are ongoing.
