A total of 20 people were detained for violating Azerbaijan’s state border in September 2026, APA reports citing the Press Center of the State Border Service.
Among those detained were six citizens of Pakistan, four citizens of Azerbaijan, four citizens of Iran, two citizens of Sri Lanka, one citizen of Afghanistan, one citizen of Belarus, one citizen of Georgia and one citizen of Türkiye.
As a result of measures to combat illegal migration, 10 people were detained while attempting to cross the state border using falsified date stamps and passports, as well as documents belonging to other persons.
Another 38 people were detained for violating border regime rules, and appropriate measures were taken against them.
