Russia is awaiting Yerevan's response to a proposal on restoring two railway sections in Armenia that are under concession, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said, APA reports.
The railway sections in question run from Yeraskh (Arazdeyen – ed.) to the border with Nakhchivan and from Gyumri to the border with Türkiye.
“Today, at a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union's Intergovernmental Council, we stated that we support the restoration of these two sections. We are ready to assist Armenia in this matter and participate in ensuring transport connectivity from Yeraskh to Nakhchivan, as well as in restoring the section from Gyumri to the Turkish border,” Overchuk told journalists.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister noted that decisions on this matter had been made at the level of the Russian President back in January.
Overchuk said he expects very important meetings to be held in the near future that will move the issue forward.
