The global diesel shortage caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions restrictions and attacks on oil refining infrastructure has driven diesel prices to record highs, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told journalists, TASS reports.

“If we talk about the global diesel market, it is currently experiencing a shortage as a result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A fairly large volume of petroleum products was supplied to global markets through this strait. Russia has also banned exports. There is currently a shortage on the global market. This is also affecting global prices,” he said.

According to Alexander Novak, record diesel prices are being recorded particularly in Europe and the United States.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the current situation is also related to sanctions restrictions, attacks on oil refining infrastructure and the closure of logistics and transport routes.
