The election procedure for the chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) is changing, member of the YAP Inspection Commission and MP Nizami Safarov said during discussions on proposed amendments to the party’s Charter at its 8th Congress, APA reports.
Nizami Safarov said that under the Charter currently in force, the term of office of the party chairman is five years. Upon the expiration of the term, the party chairman may be re-elected by the Congress.
Nizami Safarov noted that this provision has been removed.
“President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership of YAP, an organized force with no term limit, will lead us to new successes and victories,” he said.
