Members of European Parliament visits Baku pre-trial detention facility

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh â€“ APA. The delegation consisting of members of the European Parliament and German Bundestag, who are on a visit to Azerbaijan, visited Baku pre-trial detention facility of the Justice Ministry Penitentiary Service. Public affairs department of the Penitentiary Service told APA that the delegation consisted of the members of the European Parliament â€“ Horst Schnellhardt, Markus Ferber and members of the German Bundestag Tankred Schipanski, Thomas Bareib, scientific worker of the Bundestag, lawyer Christoph Graber, former member of the German Bundestag and PACE Eduard Lintner and employees of the German Ministry of Health Tim Bruckmuller, Dimos Gatids and Ellada Matsoukatidu.

The delegation closely became familiar with the activity of the pre-trial detention facility and condition of detention of accused persons. Their questions were responded. During the visit, the detailed information was given to the delegation about the work done in the penitentiary system, as well as measures for the execution of judgments, as well as positive results achieved as a result of this work. At the same time, the delegation was informed about the recent changes in legislation on the execution of judgments in Azerbaijan and the results of cooperation in the field of justice between Germany and Azerbaijan.
