Family members of missing Azerbaijanis have been received at the European External Action Service (EEAS) of the European Union (EU) for the first time, APA reports.

Members of the "Families of the Missing from Karabakh" Public Union met in Brussels on October 21 with Okke Bouwman, Political Advisor to the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, and Marco Cardinali, Coordinator for relations with Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, which lasted approximately one hour, the families of the missing stated that Armenia has failed to provide any information regarding the fate of their loved ones, even in the post-conflict period.

Konul Behbudova, Chair of the Public Union, noted that on October 20, families of missing Azerbaijanis held a protest in Luxembourg Square—located in front of the European Parliament—and adopted a statement.

She emphasized that Armenia bears direct responsibility for the fate of the missing Azerbaijanis and must share information with Azerbaijan regarding the locations of mass graves. Konul Behbudova stated that 32 mass graves have been discovered to date in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation, describing this as merely one part of a major humanitarian tragedy.

It was also noted during the meeting that another protest action by families of missing Azerbaijanis took place on October 21 at Schuman Square in the center of Brussels.

Representatives of the “Families of the Missing from Karabakh” Public Union declared that they would continue their protest actions until the fate of their loved ones is clarified.
