Rashid Aliyev appeals to Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office in connection with statements made by Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan

He said that the appeal had been made in connection with Rashid Aliyevâ€™s security.
â€œThe entire society knows that Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan threatened Rashid Aliyev. Therefore, we consider that there is a threat to his life. The other issue is the two-year illegal arrest of Rashid Aliyev in Iran. He was accused of spying for Azerbaijan. We consider that the accusation against Rashid Aliyev is groundless. Even if Rashid Aliyev is guilty, in both cases the Azerbaijani government must defend him. Moreover, Rashid Aliyevâ€™s documents are still in Iran. The documents of my client must be returned. Our appeal to the Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office is connected with the legal solution of all these problems,â€ he said.

Rashid Aliyev told APA that he was concerned over the accusations of the Iranian embassy. Rashid Aliyev said he had also appealed to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
â€œI believe that the Azerbaijani government will react to the statement made by the Iranian embassy and take necessary measures. But the Foreign Ministry has not reacted to this issue yet,â€ he said.

Commenting on the statements of Azerbaijani scientist Rashid Aliyev, who had been released from prison in Iran, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mahammadbagir Bahrami said he distorted the truth. The ambassador noted that Rashid Aliyev had been accused of spying and arrested according to the laws of Iran and was later pardoned.
â€œOur court has not completed investigating the case. Iran released him to demonstrate good will. Anyway, I hope this person will soon get rid of the influence of the enemies of both countries. Otherwise, we will take necessary measures together with the related bodies of Azerbaijan,â€ the ambassador underlined.
