New requirements are being developed in Azerbaijan for the safe implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in government agencies, Nadir Novruzov, Head of Department at the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, said at the 8th Summit of IT Leaders of Government Agencies held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the requirements are expected to be adopted and their implementation in government agencies is planned to begin in the near future.
"The next steps will include the adoption of regulatory rules and requirements related to ethical artificial intelligence, as well as work on the implementation of natural language processing models in government agencies," Nadir Novruzov said.
He noted that the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President, has already adopted five standards in the field of artificial intelligence.
These standards cover ethics, governance, impact, auditing, and testing.
According to the department head, the Cabinet of Ministers identified 11 priority areas in the field of artificial intelligence in 2026 and designated relevant government agencies responsible for these areas.
Nadir Novruzov added that work is currently underway to implement various artificial intelligence solutions at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Agriculture.
"Some government agencies are already implementing artificial intelligence solutions, while others are preparing to do so. Supercomputers have been purchased and installed at the Ministry of Economy and made available for use by government agencies. As far as we know, supercomputers are also being installed at AzInTelecom, and various agencies are using them," he emphasized.
