The US administration believes increased supplies of Russian diesel to the global market could ease price pressures, Energy Secretary Chris Wright said, Bloomberg reports.
Wright said larger volumes of Russian-produced diesel reaching international markets could boost supply and help stabilise prices.
“The aim is to ensure more Russian diesel enters the market. This would ease global market tightness and reduce pressure on diesel prices,” the secretary said.
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed oil and petroleum product supplies during a telephone conversation on October 9.
Putin said Russia was ready to supply oil and petroleum products to the United States and global markets.
