Ehud Barak: â€œIt needs to take a risk to achieve peace with the neighboring countriesâ€

This is quite difficult situation, because on the one hand, in our country there are 1.5 million non-Jews, very good citizens, and on the other hand, we are surrounded by the countries that are hostile against us,” said former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak addressing the South Caucasus Forum in Baku, APA reports.

According to him, the Muslims in Israel more or less are related with Palestine: “Israel has a conflict with Palestine, we can not solve it. The meetings were held with the participation of Bill Clinton, unfortunately, no result was produced at the meeting with head of the Palestine government Mahmoud Abbas. We need peace with the neighboring countries. I don’t want to create an illusion on the soonest solution of this conflict, but I hope that it needs to take a risk to achieve peace with the neighboring countries. We know the Palestinians’ needs, it is necessary to gradually move forward. I hope both sides will have the courage to do it. There is no alternative for the region or the people.”
