"We are conducting research on the use of new equipment, new devices, and artificial intelligence in mine action," Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA), said at a briefing marking the agency's 28th anniversary, APA reports.
The ANAMA chairman said the agency is ready to embrace any innovation.
"Mine action consists of several stages. All innovations relate to the research phase. During the clearance phase, as in the rest of the world, we use traditional methods. The main methods are manual demining and clearance using machines and animals, mainly dogs. Unfortunately, there has not yet been a technological breakthrough in the mine clearance field anywhere in the world," he said.
