Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
The foreign ministers discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia relations, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation, as well as regional and international issues.
The Russian foreign minister said the sides are moving toward fully realizing the potential of the Moscow Declaration on Allied Interaction, signed on February 22, 2022.
He stated that, thanks to the agreements reached at the highest level this year, as well as the work carried out by the governments and foreign ministries, issues related to the consequences of the crash of the AZAL passenger aircraft on December 25, 2024, have been resolved.
The Russian minister noted that the parties intend to discuss economic cooperation. He recalled that the 24th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in April.
The Russian foreign minister stressed that the situation in the South Caucasus would also be discussed. He also noted the growing interest in the 3+3 regional consultative platform.
For his part, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said such contacts provide an important platform for a comprehensive discussion of the full spectrum of Azerbaijan-Russia relations.
According to him, the parties will review trade and economic cooperation in detail during the talks, with the regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission remaining one of its key elements.
"Despite all the challenges facing the global economy, the overall trend in relations between our countries remains positive," Bayramov stressed.
He noted that the sides would discuss bilateral cooperation indicators for 2025, as well as areas planned for the near future. The Azerbaijani foreign minister described the humanitarian sphere as a traditionally important element of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.
Bayramov also expressed readiness to discuss all regional and international issues of mutual interest, including cooperation between the two countries on international platforms.
