Azerbaijan sends note to Iran

Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA that Azerbaijan Consulate General in Tabriz has handed the note to the Iranian side regarding the detention of Azerbaijani citizens. Foreign Ministry has not publicized the details of the note.

Iran has already verbally confirmed the fact of detention of two Azerbaijani citizens.

APA reports quoting “Oyannews” that the employees of the Ministry of Intelligence and National Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran (MISIRI) arrested Khalida Khalid at the house of Azerbaijani activist Mahammad (Okhtay) Rasidi’s father on April 30.

Furthermore, one more Azerbaijani citizen and 4 activists were arrested. The Azerbaijani citizen is Khalid's assistant Shamakh. They gathered at the father's house of Okhtay Rasidi on the occasion of his mother’s birthday and Mother's Day in Iran. But MISIRI employees attacked the house, confiscated the books, computer and a number of personal belongings and taken them to an unknown direction. At present, it is unknown where they are being detained.

The other detained persons are Azerbaijani cultural activist Ashug Isag Garakhanli (writer), Amir Hadiyan (student of Azad University of Tabriz) and Farhadi (writer).
