83% of individuals’ deposits in active banks are protected, while 17% are unprotected, Sevinj Salimova, an employee of the Public Relations Department of the Deposit Insurance Fund, said during the Dialogue and Cooperation Forum dedicated to National Press Day, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, in terms of the overall deposit portfolio, 99.76% of deposits are protected, 0.21% are unprotected, and 0.03% consist of funds belonging to individuals placed in notaries’ deposit accounts.
“Of the protected deposits, 76.2% are denominated in the national currency, while 23.7% are denominated in foreign currencies. Currently, the maximum interest rates eligible for deposit insurance are 12% for deposits in the national currency and 2.5% for deposits in foreign currencies,” she said.
