Azerbaijan plans to issue green government bonds.
According to information obtained by APA-Economics, preparatory work has begun for the issuance of green government bonds in Azerbaijan. A special framework document has already been drafted for the preparation of green government bonds and the document is expected to be approved shortly.
It was stated that the funds raised under these bonds will be directed to financing projects related to green energy and decarbonization. In particular, areas that have a negative impact on the environment will be a priority. The areas to be financed may include the renewal of the transport system, agriculture, irrigation systems, and other environmental projects. According to the information, the scope of the document is quite wide.
It was noted that green government bonds are planned to be issued in 2026.
