Azerbaijan nearly doubles its investments in Georgia

In the first nine months of this year, Azerbaijan invested 105.2 million USD in Georgia’s economy, APA’s local bureau reports.

The largest portion of the investments — 56.7 million USD — fell to the third quarter. In the first quarter, the investment volume amounted to 24.9 million USD, and in the second quarter to 23.6 million USD.

The volume of investments increased by 49.5 million USD, or 1.9 times year-on-year.

In the third quarter alone, the share of Azerbaijani investments in the foreign direct investments attracted to Georgia’s economy was 10.6%. With this indicator, Azerbaijan ranked fourth among the top ten countries investing most in Georgia. The top three investor countries were the United States (93.5 million USD), Spain (72.1 million USD), and Türkiye (70 million USD).

During July–September, most investments were directed to real estate, transportation, water supply and waste management, manufacturing, information and communications, trade, construction, hotels and restaurants, entertainment and recreation, as well as financial and insurance activities.

In the third quarter, the total volume of foreign direct investments in Georgia amounted to 533.2 million USD, which is twice as much as in the same period last year.
