Hundreds of Dutch farmers on tractors are participating in a protest in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch against the government's environmental agenda, APA reports citing NOS broadcaster.
According to her, protesters gathered outside the local administration building to protest the revocation of licenses for five poultry farms, which authorities claim are emitting excessive nitrogen, negatively impacting a nearby nature reserve. The provincial administration believes the farmers' efforts to reduce emissions are insufficient.
As NOS notes, protesters arrived at the protest site on tractors, carrying placards with the slogans "Stop this policy, give freedom back to farmers," "With this government, our economy is collapsing," and upside-down Dutch flags.
According to the NL Times newspaper, the protest caused traffic jams and delays on several highways.
