"Developments following the collapse of the Soviet Union prevented the South Caucasus from emerging as a connectivity hub. Nevertheless, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye have managed to implement a number of energy and transport projects," said Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili during her speech at the Raisina Middle East conference held in Abu Dhabi, APA's local bureau reports.

According to her, these joint projects today serve as a solid foundation for strengthening regional connectivity and further developing the Middle Corridor.

The minister noted that fully realizing the region's potential requires deepening cooperation, building partnerships based on trust, and developing opportunities for future cooperation.

"Our goal is to build partnerships based on trust and reliability not only during times of crisis but also during periods of stability," the foreign minister added.

Maka Botchorishvili particularly emphasized the importance of the Middle Corridor in terms of developing regional cooperation and economic ties.

"Currently, the concept of the Middle Corridor is being discussed particularly actively. However, this is not a new concept in itself. It reflects a historical reality that has always existed. The new geopolitical landscape gives this idea additional significance. In this context, Georgia plays an important role," the foreign minister added.
