Criminal liability will be established for failure to fulfill or improper fulfillment of obligations stipulated in the "Foreign Agents Registration" law in Georgia, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports citing local media.
Amendments to the Criminal Code are envisaged in connection with the draft law submitted by the ruling "Georgian Dream" party, which is said to be a word-for-word translation of the FARA (Foreign Agents Registration Act) law in force in the United States.
According to the proposal, a fine or up to 5 years of imprisonment is envisaged for violation of the "Foreign Agents Registration Law".
Note that administrative fines are envisaged for failure to comply with the requirements stipulated in the "Foreign Influence Transparency" law, which was adopted amid the backdrop of protests last year.
