In January-July 2026, services worth AZN 9,206.6 million were provided in the transport and storage sector, up 7.1% in real terms compared to the corresponding period of last year, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to the data, during the reporting period, AZN 5,530.7 million (60.1%) of the services accounted for freight transportation, AZN 2,522.9 million (27.4%) for passenger transportation, and AZN 1,153 million (12.5%) for storage and postal services.
“In the transport sector, 140.8 million tons of cargo were transported, or 2.8% more compared to the same period last year. Of the cargo, 63% was transported by road, 25.9% by pipeline, 7.4% by rail, 3.6% by sea, and 0.1% by air,” the report says.
It is noted that during the reporting period, the number of passengers transported amounted to 1.290 billion people, or 8.6% more compared to the same period last year. Of the passengers, 89.3% were transported by road, 10% by metro, and the remainder by other modes of transport.
