“We regret to state that incidents resulting in deaths and injuries due to mine explosions in the territories liberated from occupation continue to occur. The Prosecutor General’s Office, jointly with the relevant state bodies, takes the necessary measures regarding each such incident and regularly informs the public,” APA reports.
This was stated in information released by the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding persons affected by mine explosions.
It was noted that since the end of the Patriotic War (since November 10, 2020), 436 people have been affected as a result of the contamination of Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation with mines by Armenia. Of them, 73 people have been killed and 363 have sustained injuries of varying degrees:
“The Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan conducts investigations into every mine incident in accordance with the requirements of the legislation, and determines all circumstances of the incidents, including the causes and conditions of the explosions.
Eliminating the mine threat is of great importance in terms of ensuring the safety of people in the territories liberated from occupation, restoring the territories and ensuring sustainable resettlement.
We once again urge citizens and persons traveling to these territories to use only designated safe routes and to strictly comply with warning signs and the recommendations of the relevant state authorities.”
