Smoke was detected in one of the wagons of a freight train traveling from Georgia to Baku in the area of Shamkir station this morning, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) told APA.
According to the information, fire engines and personnel of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were immediately dispatched to the scene. The smoke was eliminated within a short time, and the other wagons were protected.
It was established that the incident occurred due to smoke from sulfur powder in the 15th wagon of the 35-wagon freight train.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
