Representatives of Pakistan, media representatives and other persons attended the event.
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran.
Later, Pakistan's national flag was raised by Pakistani Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin.
Messages from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion of Independence Day were read out.
The significance of this day for Pakistan was highlighted at the event.
Students from Azerbaijan attended as guests and delivered speeches in Urdu.
A reception was held at the end of the event.
