Eleven people were injured when a train derailed near Lewes in East Sussex, according to the Southeast Coast Ambulance Service, APA reports citing Sky News.
"At this stage, we can confirm that two patients sustained serious injuries. A further nine patients sustained less serious injuries. The patients were assessed and treated at the scene. Some were taken to local hospitals for further treatment," reads a statement, as cited by Sky News . It is noted that there were approximately 150 people on the train, which was traveling from London to Eastbourne.
The incident partially disrupted passenger service in southern England. Operators warned of potential delays and cancellations and recommended avoiding travel for the rest of the day.
