According to the statement, SOCAR president did not make such and similar statement: “Certain part of gas is produced by SOCAR, other part is bought from operating companies in USD in accordance with the Production Sharing Agreement. As the production expenses increased and manat rate devalued in the recent years, base price of the natural gas become higher than the prices regulated inside the country. In this case, it’s impossible to ensure sustainability in natural gas supply and qualitative service. Taking into account the abovementioned facts, SOCAR appealed to the Tariff Council to set the gas price at AZN 0.18 without differentiation. The Council decided to apply differential prices in order to protect major part of the population from price rise and prevent the sharp rice ion energy prices. So, retail sale price of the natural gas remained at AZN 0.10 for those annually consuming up to 1,500 m³, energy price at AZN 0.07 for those annually consuming up to 250 kWh. We call on the media outlets releasing such baseless information to obey the provisions of the “Law on Mass Media””.
