SOCAR’s oil terminal in Kulevi plans to handle 3 million tons of products this year, Ismayil Karimov, Director General of the Black Sea Terminal (SOCAR’s terminal located on the Black Sea coast), told APA-Economics on the sidelines of the 2nd Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trade and Logistics Forum organized by GLENMAR Group, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, this figure stood at 2.5 million tons last year. Thus, this year the Black Sea Terminal may increase its transshipment volume by 20%.
“This is planned to be achieved through infrastructure improvements and acceleration of turnover,” Ismayil Karimov noted.
He added that a project is currently underway at the Kulevi terminal for the construction of four new storage tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters (a total of 80,000 cubic meters). The contractor company plans to complete the work by mid-next year.
The investment value of the project amounts to $25 million and is financed by the terminal itself.
Note that the terminal’s current storage capacity stands at 407,000 cubic meters.
