Azerbaijan may be a part of submarine fiber-optic cable to be laid to Romania

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov received a delegation, which included Romania's Energy Minister Virgil-Daniel Popescu and Special Envoy For Strategic and International Affairs Ana Birchall, as well as senior officials of Transgaz and Romgaz, APA-Economics reports citing the Energy Minister.

The meeting focused on priority areas of energy cooperation between the two countries. The sides noted that the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania played an important role in the development of energy cooperation.

The meeting highly appreciated the participation of Romania in the VIII Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council and its interest in the project, and discussed the prospects of the country's accession to the project within the expansion of the corridor.

The project of laying a Black Sea submarine fiber-optic cable via Azerbaijan and Georgia to Romania was also considered at the meeting.
