US President Donald Trump’s administration has threatened to suspend a weapons procurement programme for Ukraine and intelligence sharing with Kyiv, the Financial Times reported, citing unnamed European officials.
According to the newspaper, US representatives made several telephone calls to European capitals and Kyiv on October 10 and 11.
Sources said Washington threatened to halt intelligence sharing and the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) programme, through which European countries fund purchases of US weapons for Ukraine.
“They are calling Kyiv, they are calling everywhere in Europe,” a European official who said they had received such a call from a US Defense Department representative told the newspaper.
The Financial Times reported that Pavlo Palisa, deputy head of the Ukrainian president’s office, was among those contacted by Washington.
The White House declined to confirm that the calls took place or comment on the matter.
