Hungary has no plans to provide military aid to Ukraine or allow weapons to transit through its territory, Prime Minister Peter Magyar said in an interview with Finland’s Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.
Magyar stressed that Budapest’s position rules out both supplying weapons to Ukraine and permitting their transit through Hungary.
The prime minister also highlighted the importance of protecting the rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine’s Transcarpathia region. He said an agreement had already been reached on resolving the issue.
At the NATO summit in Ankara in July, Magyar said Hungary’s new government would continue providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine but would not send weapons.
