EU plans to establish a single transport network with the Eastern Partnership countries

On 9 October, a significant step towards the formation of an integrated transport network between the EU and Eastern Partnership countries was made during a meeting of transport ministers of the program and the EU in Luxembourg, APA reports quoting the press service of the EU , according to the results of the meeting, a declaration signed in which the ministers adopted a recommendation to the European Commission on the inclusion of the regional transport network of the Eastern Partnership plan to create a trans-European network (TEN-T).

 

"All the goals of the Eastern Partnership will lead to closer integration of the EU and the six partner countries. Tangible results have been achieved in the development of a common air space , so similar developments are expected to be achieved as in the sectors of rail and water transport, " said Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania Rimantas Sinkevičius .

 

Transport Ministers also approved the Eastern Partnership priority infrastructure projects. In the future, these projects can be supported by EU funding and international financial institutions.

 

It is expected that the results of the meeting of ministers of transport will be approved at the highest level within the framework of the Eastern Partnership summit, which will take place on 28-29 November in Vilnius.
